The person selected for this position will be responsible for the supervision and management of an elementary classroom or combined grade elementary classroom. This position is a ten-month position beginning in mid August and ending mid June, and a salary divided into twenty-six disbursements.
The candidate for this position must be professionally prepared as a teacher of young children, especially in the field of childhood education or development. While a Bachelor’s degree with certification in the field of Elementary Education is preferred, a Bachelor’s degree or a Master’s Degree in a related field of education may be considered.
The candidate is able to manage the office requirements as well as the daily management of students and the classroom. This person must be a sensitive and mature individual who is able to relate well to both children and adults. Candidates will be able to treat children with dignity and respect, build relationships with parents, and also build professional rapport with staff members .
The candidate will reflect an excitement for student success and student learning and is a leader in the classroom as well as their community.
The candidate will plan and implement a program that encourages the spiritual, physical, social, and cognitive development of each child and follow the Christian values and policies of the Zion Lutheran School and Childcare. Candidates will carry out the philosophy of the school and accepted early childhood education practices, including presentation of a religion curriculum.
The person selected for this position will be responsible for the supervision and management of all aspects of the hot lunch program of Zion Lutheran School and Daycare. This position is a ten-month position beginning in mid August and ending mid June, paid hourly through the federal hot lunch program.
The candidate for this position must be professionally prepared to plan, implement, and serve nutritious lunches using the guidelines of the MDE and USDA. While a Bachelor’s degree with certification in the field of food and nutrition, food service management, or dietetics, is preferred, Associate’s degree or equivalent educational experience, a High School diploma (or GED) and at least three years of relevant experience in school nutrition programs will be considered. The candidate must have at least 8 hours of continuing education credits related to food management as well.
The candidate will be able to effectively and efficiently plan and prepare standardized recipes, cycle menus, and meals, including the use of USDA Foods, to meet all Federal school nutrition program requirements, including the proper meal components.
Employee will be able to effectively utilize food safety program guidelines and health department regulations to ensure optimal food safety.
Employee will be able to manage procedures and records for compliance with efficiency and accuracy in accordance with all Federal, State, and local regulations, as well as the Administrative Review.
Employee will be able to effectively utilize food preparation principles, production records, kitchen equipment, and food crediting to prepare foods from standardized recipes, including those for special diets.
